Everything in VCE Chemistry stands on this unit. You learn atomic structure and electron configuration, how the periodic table predicts behaviour, and the three bonding models that explain material properties. Then the mole concept and stoichiometry, the calculation engine of the whole course. We make sure it is automatic before moving on, because every later unit assumes it.
Atomic structure and periodicity Metallic, ionic and covalent bonding The mole and stoichiometry Polymers and materials + more
Water becomes the lens for reaction chemistry: intermolecular forces, solubility, and concentration calculations. You master acid-base theory including pH and dilution, then redox reactions with confident half-equation balancing. The unit finishes with volumetric analysis and titration technique, a skill set that returns in Unit 3 SACs and the exam.
Water and intermolecular forces Acid-base reactions and pH Redox fundamentals Volumetric analysis + more
The energy unit. You compare fuels through combustion calculations and thermochemical equations, then build galvanic cells and learn to predict reactions with the electrochemical series. Collision theory and Le Chatelier's principle explain how industry optimises yield, and electrolysis closes the loop from chemical energy to electrical and back. Calculation setting-out is drilled relentlessly here because this is where exam marks concentrate.
Thermochemistry and fuels Galvanic cells and batteries Rates and equilibrium Electrolysis + more
Organic chemistry from naming through to synthesis design: functional groups, isomerism, and multi-step reaction pathways you learn to map and reverse. Laboratory analysis covers infrared spectroscopy, NMR, mass spectrometry and chromatography, the interpretation skills the exam tests every single year. Medicinal chemistry ties it together with how molecular structure drives drug action.
Organic nomenclature and isomers Reaction pathways and synthesis Spectroscopy and chromatography Medicinal chemistry + more
The Chemistry exam punishes sloppy setting-out, so our final term is built around it: full timed VCAA papers, calculation working marked line by line, and rapid-recall drills for the reactions and definitions the paper always asks. Every mock comes back with a prioritised revision plan for your remaining weeks.

These are highlights only. Your classes cover every key knowledge point in the current VCAA Chemistry study design, plus the exam skills built on top of it.

FAQ

VCE Chemistry Tutoring FAQs

Yes. This is the most common reason students join. Your tutor identifies exactly where the gap started, rebuilds it with targeted sessions, and gets you back in step with your school within weeks.
Comfortable algebra is enough. Every calculation type in the course is taught step by step with a repeatable setting-out method that also protects your marks in SACs and the exam.
Yes. We cover experimental design, error analysis and the scientific poster format, and run practice questions in the same style your SACs and the exam use.
